22 Mar, 2011

Pakistani Ambassador to Libya Ali Javed said that the government has sent seven jumbo aircraft for repatriation of Pakistanis from Libya and each flight has a capacity of about 460 seats. Talking to VOA, he highlighted the steps taken for safe repatriation of Pakistanis from Libya and said that a large number of Pakistanis have been repatriated so far through various means.
To a question he said our concern was about the Pakistanis, even much before declaration of the 'No Fly Zones' by the United Nations in Libya. He said that no Pakistani could leave Libya on his own and only well to do Pakistanis could manage to go back at their own expense, even before arrival of the first Pakistani flight.
To another question regarding security steps taken for the remaining Pakistanis, he said that the no embassy can provide security to its nationals. It is the duty of the host country to provide security to the foreigners, so we have advised the remaining Pakistanis in Libya not to travel unnecessarily and remain in their homes, he added.
