Power shortfall has jumped to 3,000MW with rise in mercury across the country and short supply of gas to the thermal power units of Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco). A gloomy picture is appearing on scene regarding and power outages duration across the country has touched to about 10-hour daily.
It may be noted that the Pepco Director General had expressed the hope that gas supply to thermal power units would become normal soon. But the Pepco sources blamed abrupt gas supply behind the phenomenon. Power generation remained 11001MW against a demand of 14002MW, thus leaving the system with a shortfall of 3001MW during last 24 hours. Power generation through hydel remained 3528MW, followed by 2050MW through thermal, 5361MW through IPPs and 62MW through RPPs. Supply to the KESC remained 700MW, said Pepco sources.
