JI calls for an urgent OIC meeting

23 Mar, 2011

Jamaat-e-Islami Chief, Syed Munawar Hasan condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran by an American pastor in Florida church. The JI chief also announced countrywide protests on Friday. He called for an emergent OIC meeting to form a unified strategy for enactment of an international law against the profanity of the Holy Prophet and desecration of the Holy Quran.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he appealed to the people to join the protests and demonstrate to the blasphemers that profanity of the Holy Prophet and the Holy Quran was not tolerable.
Protest rallies should be taken out after Juma prayers against the west's religious terrorism and the Muslim masses should resolve to protect the sanctity of the Holy Prophet and the Holy Quran.
The JI chief asked the people who labelled the Muslims as terrorists that what the pastor should be called who had hurt the sentiments of the 1.5 billion Muslims in the world.
He said, it was not for the first time that the Western people and the devilish pastor had desecrated the Holy Quran as there had been a series of acts of blasphemy by the Zionists and the Christians aimed at hurting the Muslims sentiments and ridiculing Islam.
In the beginning, caricatures of the noble Prophet (PBUH), the centre of the Muslims love and respect, were prepared and circulated in the name of freedom of expression, and now the Holy Book was desecrated. The governments in the West were patronising the blasphemers to accomplish their nefarious designs against Islam and Muslims, he added.
The JI chief exhorted the faithful all over the world not to be silent on such acts of desecration and step forward for playing their role to protect the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet's sanctity.
