Drive to curb smuggling of Iranian POL products launched

The Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive, Custom House Karachi has launched a fresh drive to curb the menace of smuggling of Iranian POL products and other foreign origin merchandise goods arriving from Balochistan through RCD Highway and coastal routes.
As a result of the fresh offensive launched under the directions of the Collector of Customs Preventive Muhammad Javed Ghani the Anti-smuggling Organisation has succeeded in interdicting/seizing huge quantities of smuggled/non-duty paid POL products and other Merchandise goods worth millions of rupees during the months February and March 21, 2011.
The seized smuggled/non duty paid goods include (i) 12 cases of 1,99,152 liters diesel worth Rs 16 million, (ii) 10 cases of miscellaneous merchandise goods worth Rs 2.91 million and (iii) Vehicles /Boats/launches used in transportation of seized goods 20 vehicles one boat/launch worth Rs 30 million and total value of seized goods and conveyance comes to Rs 75.11 million.-PR
