Sindh Governor gives awards to 22 persons

Governor Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan conferred national awards to 22 persons for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari here on Wednesday in connection with Pakistan Day celebrations at Governor House. The awards were conferred included Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Presidential Award for Best Performance, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza, provincial ministers, advisors, senior army officials and close relatives of recipients of the awards were also present on the occasion. The Governor awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz to 6 persons, Presidential Performance Awards to 7 persons and 9 were conferred with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
Recipients of Sitara-Imtiaz were Ustad Umair Ali Khan (Classical music), Ustad Fateh Ali khan (Classical music), Sirajul Haq (Culture & Journalism), Professor Dr Mohammed Ali Siddiqui (Education & Literature), and Late Khalid Shamsul Hasan. Presidential Awards were received by Mohammed Afzal Arain (Agriculture), Shed Hamid Qasim Jalali (art and drama), S.B. Jan (Singer), Late Professor Abdul Rahim (artist/painter), late Zafar Kazmi (sculpture/art), Mohtarma Goshpi Behram Awari (rowing), and Naseem Ahmed (sports).
Those conferred with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz included Professor Dr M. Shahiq Ali (Science), Professor Dr Asghari Bano (Science), Professor Salahuddin Afsar (Medicine education), Ghulam Mohiuddin (Actor), Syed Mazhar Jamil (Literature), Professor Dr Adal Soomro (Literature), Altaf Shaikh (Literature), Ghulam Nabi Memon and Mohammed Rafique (Public Service).
