Rocket misses Malir Cantt, hits mosque

Malir Cantonment escaped rocket attack launched early Tuesday by unknown militants from Dur-Muhammad Goth in the outskirts of Malir City. Militants, who intended to target Malir Cantonment, fired two rockets from Dur-Muhammad Goth, which hit the wall of Jamia Masjid in the limits of Saudabad police station and the skirret farm at Malir police jurisdiction.
Police sources said terrorists wanted to create panic on the occasion of 23rd March. SHO Saudabad said the rescue teams, law enforcement agencies and bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene and nobody was hurt in the attack. He added that however the rocket slightly damaged the wall of Jamia Masjid Mustafa situated near Kalapul. After the incident, scores of devotees belonging to Ahle-Sunnat group took to the streets and chanted slogans against other religious groups and LEAs. They also burnt tyres and wooden crates on the roads.
Meanwhile, SHO Malir Raja Arif told BR that militants, who fired two Russian-made shells (DMR107-MM) from Dhur-Muhammad Goth, failed to handle the device, hence Malir Cantonment remained unhurt. He said it was possible that some separatist groups wanted to create panic on the occasion of Resolution Day.
