Jubilant Lahorites take out victory march on Mall Road

The extremely delighted Lahorites took out victory march on The Mall Road soon after Kamran Akmal hit the victory shot to take Pakistan to the semi- final of the World Cup 2011 on Wednesday. Pakistan cricket team has made its way to the semi-final of the Cricket World Cup 2011 after securing a wonderful win against West Indies in very first quarter-final of the tournament.
A large number of youngsters, carrying Pakistani flags and posters of Pakistani cricketers on motorbikes and cars, kept on shouting slogans in favour of Pakistan team and blocked the traffic for quite a while. Young cricket fans also marched on The Mall Road in between Chairing Cross and Regal Square on bikes and cars, carrying Pakistani flags.
Earlier, full size screens were erected at different locations in the town with attractive deals by leading food chains and restaurants. The DHA Cinema also arranged live transmission of the match on its screen. Similarly, a large number of groups of friends had organised LCDs outside their residences to enjoy first quarter-final on a public holiday on account of 23rd March, the Pakistan Day.
It may be noted that the vibrant electronic media has charged the youngsters all over Pakistan and they remained very excited throughout the match. Each and every ball was counted by the energetic and enthusiastic youngsters when Pakistani spinners were hitting hard to the West Indian batsmen.
