Christians demand exemplary punishment for Jones

A large number of Muslim and Christian organisations held protest rallies across the Faisalabad Division against the desecration of Holy Qur'an by United States Pastor Terry Jones, demanding Muslim countries to boycott the US.
Demanding that Jones should be hanged the protesters burnt an effigy of the pastor at various places and urged US as well as international community to take strict action against him. The participants were carrying placards and banners and posters inscribed with slogans against the pastor. The major protest procession was taken out from Jamia Masjid Kutchery Bazar, while other processions gathered at Chowk Clock Tower after Jumma Prayers to register their protest.
Meanwhile, National Commission for Justice and Peace held a meeting for condemning the shameful act of desecration of Holy Qur'an. Father Nisar Barkat, Diocesan Director NCJP, Chaudhry Muhammad Anwar Advocate, Hashmat Barkat Advocate, Ms Shughfta Advocate, Shahid Anwar, Naila Arooj, Aksa Kanwal and Shafique Sharif were among the speakers on the occasion.
Father Nisar Barkat said, "the shameful act of Terry Jones not only spoiled religious feeling of Muslims but of Christians also, Jones is neither a Christian nor a human because no religion allows its followers to provoke the feelings of the followers of other religions." He further said, "the purpose behind the satanic deed of Jones is only to demolish universal peace, we demand that Jones and his companions must be arrested and punished so that no one dares commit such a heinous crime in future." We also demand that universal Christian community must boycotts Jones and declare him as atheist and UN must take notice of this disgraceful act, he concluded.
