Need stressed to explore alternative energy resources

Sindh Minister for Environment & Alternative Energy Sheikh Muhammad Afzal stressed the need of exploring alternative energy resources to overcome the persisting energy crisis. Presiding over the inauguration ceremony of International Trade & Industry Fair (ITIF)-Asia, 2011 at Expo Centre, he said the country has a significant potential of wind energy in the coastal belt and in the desert areas, which needs to be explored to meet the energy demand.
He said that the government is taking concerted efforts to promote alternative and renewable energy resources but there is still more needed to enhance the share in energy mix and sustainability. He opined that this conference would provide an opportunity to the stakeholders to adopt best alternative energy solutions to meet energy requirements. Afzal further said the event would serve as an effective platform for entrepreneurs and investors from international and local business community to identify new investment opportunities not only in power & alternative energy sectors but also in the allied sectors.
There are more than 210 stalls in the exhibition where 88 international & domestic exhibitors are showcasing their products and services. Over 51 foreign delegates are also gracing the event from 13 countries including Australia, Turkey, Canada, Germany, India, UAE etc.
The event, which was organised by Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd with the support of Alternative Energy Development Board; Ministries of Water & Power; Petroleum & Natural Resources; Ministry of Environment & Alternative Energy, Government of Sindh and Engineering Development Board, has further incorporated 5th Power & Alternative Energy Asia, 7th Auto & Transport Asia, 8th Engineering Asia and 7th Oil & Gas Asia.
Meanwhile, the 5th international conference on Alternative Energy & Power- ICAEP on the 'INITIATIVE, INNOVATION & INVESTMENT-A Roadmap to Smart Future' was also organised to spread awareness about alternate energy solutions. The Wellbeinggreen; AGECO, CERES Gulf; Orient Energy Systems; KK Power International; ELTEK Valiere; Karakoram Motors; Stahlco Motors; Sazgar; Agility, etc are the prominent participants of the exhibition.
