Punjab government launches children enrolment drive in schools

The Punjab government launched enrolment drive of all the five-year old children in the schools. It started throughout the province from March 23 in the first phase, while the second phase would be launched on August 14. This was stated by Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Raja Muhammad Anwar while addressing the annual prize distribution ceremony of a private school on Tuesday.
Raja Anwar, in his speech, said that education of every child till the age of 16 years has been made compulsory under the 18th amendment of the constitution of Pakistan. It is the commitment of the Punjab government to improve the educational standard in the Public Sector schools, especially situated in far-flung and remote areas, as it is necessary for the provision of quality education to the children with socio-economic disparities, he added. Earlier, School Principal Shamim Haider Syed presented the address of welcome.
