31 Mar, 2011

Punjab Bar Council (PBC) has returned an application of a woman against a lawyer, who beat her in the High Court premises a few days back, asking her to submit process fee. The complainant, Bushra Sayeda (60) said that she time and again approached the PBC against Advocate Nasir Khan Banuzai for beating her but no one gave her any favour.
She said the officials asked her that if she was true in leveling the allegation, she must pay fee and if she did not pay the meager amount of Rs 500, then it would be clear that she was raising allegations against respected members of the bar. She said although it was not easy to manage Rs 500 but she must go to the bar after arranging the amount and would test the bar's attitude in allegations against its members.
In her application she alleged that on March 26 she was sitting in a chair at the sitting place of her former counsel Anjum Islam Anjum waiting for accused advocate Nasir Khan Banuzai. She had engaged Nasir Khan in the murder case and also had paid Rs 35,000 fee but he was not handling her case properly. She said she reached the LHCBA to take her money and documents back from Banuzai. She requested in the complaint to take action against the lawyer and also ask him to return her amount and documents.
