02 Apr, 2011

"The assassination attempts on Maulana Fazlur Rehman, first in Swabi and now in Charsadda, are further proof that the terrorists are out to silence any moderate voices in Pakistan including religious leaders." This was stated by Syed Jawaid Iqbal, Chairman Moderates, a private sector Think Tank strengthening tolerance, interfaith harmony and democracy.
"We cannot and must not tolerate more assassinations of political and religious leaders, and the loss of so many innocent lives resulting from suicide blasts, which are occurring almost on a daily basis now. The urgency of addressing the issue of rising extremism cannot be emphasised enough," he said. Jawaid urged the government to investigate the attacks on Maulana Fazl and thwart any further plans by providing maximum security to the JUI-F chief.-PR
