Issues need attention

02 Apr, 2011

I would like the relevant authorities to give some attention towards the issues I am raising. Ghazi Road Lahore Cantt is connected to Defence Road Lahore. This road is not wide enough to accept big buses and heavy trucks. Whenever these big buses pass through, they cause chaos and traffic comes to a standstill.
It is probably a good idea to replace these big buses with smaller public transport vehicles to keep the traffic flow. The second issue of this road is dumped rubbish and garbage, which cause a horrible stink and is also a health hazard for passers-by and locals.
I have witnessed huge piles of rubbish and rotten vegetables dumped in front of telephone exchange gate, which is situated on the corner of Ferozpur Road and Ghazi Road. Bear in mind that this road meets an international airport, which is pride of this city. But this end of the road tells a completely different story about Lahore. I would like to insist to the relevant authorities to remove this eyesore to keep the area less harmful for the locals' health.
I have also travelled on some parts of the Ring Road and would like to appreciate the Punjab government's work and commitment to developing this city. I am also very proud to mention that this Ring Road is not less beautiful than any of the main roads of the world. The Kalma Chowk flyover plan is another great idea to keep the traffic flow. I have also experienced the politeness and professional attitude of the police staff as I have been stopped and searched a couple of times during my stay in Pakistan.
