Strike of young doctors continued for the 36th day in Multan and other parts of Southern Punjab to press the authorities for acceptance of their demands. Senior doctors also joined to express solidarity with the protestors. Young Doctors Association (YDA) has claimed to have received 5,500 resignations from young doctors so far which would be presented to Punjab government soon, said a spokesman of YDA, Dr Khurram while addressing a press conference, here on Tuesday.
He said the deadline of 24-hour by Punjab government is over and young doctors are not ready to attend their duties. The spokesman termed attitude of Punjab government 'quite non-serious' and added that young doctors are being threatened to face consequences if they do not call off their strike.
He vowed that young doctors would not join their duties till sacking of Secretary Health. However, he added, doctors are ready to join their duty if the announcement of Senior Advisor Zulfikar Khosa announcement should be implemented, agreed earlier between the YDA and Punjab Government.
