06 Apr, 2011

Gas supply to five power plants remained suspended for a second day due to a gas pipeline explosion. The electrify load shedding is now up to six hours in the urban areas and nine hours in the rural areas, private news channel reported. Due to an explosion at the Sui Northern gas supply line near Guddu Barrage, gas supply was cut to Orient, Saiif, Roush, Sapphire and Fauji power plants.
This brought an increase of 1000 megawatts, bringing the collective shortfall up to 2500 megawatts.
