Extorting money from cattle dealers: chief minister orders action against mafia

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has ordered stern action against the mafia engaged in extorting money from dealers in the cattle markets. He said that this practice should be curbed at any cost as exploitation of cattle dealers cannot be tolerated.
He was addressing a meeting of Punjab Agri Marketing Company (PAMCO), here on Wednesday. A detailed briefing was given in the meeting regarding increasing the production of vegetables, fruits and meat in the province. Chairman Chief Minister's Special Initiatives Entity Haroon Khawaja, Secretary Agriculture, Secretary Livestock and Managing Director Lahore Meat Company were present.
The Chief Minister said that complaints have been received about harassment and extortion of money from cattle dealers in cattle markets and other places by different gangs. He directed Chief Secretary to address such complaints. He said that there is a vast scope of increasing production of vegetables, fruits and meat in the province and these items can be provided to the people at lower rates by increasing their production.
