The Karachi Port handled 105,255 tonnes of cargo including 67,594 tonnes of import cargo, 37,661 tonnes of export cargo and 1,328 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 67,594 tonnes comprised of 9,597 tonnes of containerised cargo; 784 tonnes of general cargo; 17,506 tonnes of bulk cargo: 10,500 tonnes of coal; 6,006 tonnes of DAP; 1,000 tonnes of canola seeds and 39,707 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,661 tonnes comprised of 10,607 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,290 tonnes of general cargo; 19,764 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,333 tonnes of cement; 6,112 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 12,319 tonnes of wheat and 6,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Eight ships namely Samin-1, Sorrelle, Nadeem, Hanjin Berlin, Lodestar Genesis, Thuringia Express, UBS Cyprus and Iron Butterfly with container ship, oil tanker, bags, container ship, oil tanker, container ship, bulk cargo carrier and general cargo carrier sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five vessels viz Bravo, Tan Binh-22, Bow Victor, Abdullalatif-S and Alpine Eternity carrying container ship, bulk cargo carrier, oil tanker, bags and oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Bravo, Bow Victor and Eleanord with container ship, oil tanker and wheat carrier respectively expected to sail on Friday, while another ship namely Orchid Ocean carrying coal is expected to sail on Saturday. Three vessels viz AS Ophelia, Yossa Bhum and APL Guangzhou with ethanol and two container ships respectively due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz Al-Badiyah, Valdivia, Wan Hai-605, Lt Genova and Cape Manuel with high speed diesel oil and four container ships respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
