First National Assembly session of fourth parliamentary year today

The first session of fourth parliamentary year of National Assembly will start here Monday. It would be the 30th session of incumbent National Assembly that has been summoned to meet on the date at 1600 hours. Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza will chair the meeting that would debate the presidential address he made in joint sitting of Parliament on March 22, 2011.
Prior to start of the session, a usual House Business Advisory Committee will meet under the chair of Speaker at 1500 hours to decide agenda of the whole session as well as the annual calendar of the fourth parliamentary year.
The House is also likely to hold debates on rising inflation, prevailing law and order situation in the country and recent price hike in fuel prices.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNAs Raja Asad, Parveen Masood Bhatti and Nisar Tanveer have already submitted adjournment motions on price hike of petroleum products.
Under the 18th amendment, the number of mandatory days for National Assembly has been increased from previous 110 days to 130. It is pertinent to mention here that the National Assembly and Senate have passed landmark 18th and 19th amendments during the third parliamentary year.
