Government's wheat procurement policy slammed

Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) expressing dissatisfaction over wheat procurement policy of the government and has termed it as a policy of loot. It said that Sindh government by imposing section 144 on transportation of wheat has violated the law of the land. KBP Central President, Sardar Zafar Hussein and General Secretary, Malik Muhammad Ramzan Rohari in their separate statements claimed that such a ban had been declared unlawful by the courts in the past.
They said that the Punjab government's announcement of starting wheat procurement from April 20 would leave the growers on the mercy of middlemen and flour millers. They claimed that middlemen were offering Rs 800 to 850 per maund in the open market against the support price of Rs 950 per maund. They accused the Punjab government of delaying the wheat procurement deliberately.
