Punjab focusing attention on promotion of education: minister

Punjab Law Minister Sanaullah Khan has said that the provincial government is focusing attention on promotion of education, and various revolutionary policies have been introduced for encouragement of outstanding students and provision of scholarships to deserving intelligent students for higher studies in well reputed educational institutions under endowment fund, besides establishment of 'Danish' schools in backward areas of the province.
He was addressing a function to inaugurate the construction of new academic block at a cost of 3.5 million in Government MC Girls High School, Nisar Colony here on Monday. EDO Education Sohaib Imran, Headmistress Shamim Ata, political workers Muzaffar, Tanvir Ahmed, Jamal Dogar and others were also present on the occasion.
The minister announced Rs 10 million for expanding the school building during current year and directed the EDO Education for repair and maintenance of the present dilapidated school building. He said that poor outstanding students were being provided with scholarships and no deserving intelligent student would be deprived of higher education due to financial constraints as Punjab CM has established Punjab endowment fund initially with Rs 2 billion which would be added by Rs 2 million every year.
He said that Danish schools are being set up for the children of labourers, peasants and poor people, with quality education as per the standard of Aitcheson College free of cost besides provision of the facilities of boarding lodging, uniforms and books. He claimed that Danish school system would help in elimination of dark of ignorance of backward areas and issues of terrorism.
Sanaullah said that the various developmental projects had been initiated for the improvement of schools and upgradation in the constituency of PP 70. He said that provision of education from primary to degree level to the female students at their doorsteps was on his top priority in the development agenda. He said that construction work of girls degree college was underway at a cost of Rs 50 million and this project had been initiated after the change of sports gymnasium of Samnabad after the approval of CM Punjab.
He said that Rs 20 million was being utilised for the construction of additional academic blocks in Higher Secondary School and new building was also being constructed at a cost of Rs 8 million in Government High School Samnabad. He said that Rs 10 million was being spent for construction of new building of both schools at Nawabawala. He added that record development projects had been initiated in PP 70 during the last 3 years which was matchless in the history and developmental mission would continue for removing the backwardness of this area.
Later the minister gave away prizes to students and appreciated the excellent results of the school which depicted the commitment and passion of the staff. Earlier, EDO Education Sohaib Imran gave the details of measures for the improvement of the school environment and capacity building of the teaching staff in the district. Muzaffar and Tanvir Ahmad and other workers also spoke on the occasion and thanked the law minister for taking immediate action for arranging the funds for the constructions of 4 new classrooms in the school.
