13 Apr, 2011

Internally Displaced Persons from Jalozai Camp, Bajaur and Mohmand Agencies are being sent back to their native villages. An official of Afghan Commission, Noor Akbar told BBC that 24 families have been sent back to Mohmand tribal region where peace has been restored.
"We have registered 13,000 families from Bajaur Agency and 1,500 from Mohmand Agency as IDPs. Assistant Political Agents of Mohmand and Bajaur Agencies have also visited the camp and provided a list of 'clear areas'. Noor Akbar said that government is following a clear policy about the displaced persons, he said.
The people of the non-cleared areas would not be repatriated. There are some areas of both agencies, which have been cleared but not yet notified, he added. Expressing his views, a teacher of the Bajaur Agency Abdul Rauf told BBC, "People do not want to go back to their native localities because they have lost their houses. Security forces have set up check posts and started searching people who are hesitant to go back."
