The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) demolished three illegal housing colonies on Tuesday. According to a spokesman of FDA, developers of illegal housing schemes were repeatedly asked to get them regularised but they failed. He said that according to the Punjab Development of Cities Act, no person or department can develop any housing colony without permission of FDA.
Hence, FDA launched a crackdown against illegal housing schemes. In the operation, Ghafoor Town of Chak No 219-RB, Aqsa Town of Chak No 219-RB, and An-Noor Town of Chak No 217-RB were demolished. The spokesman said that letters were also forwarded to Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL).
Pakistan Tele Communication Limited (PTCL) and Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) not to provide services to any colony without ascertaining the legalal status of the colony. The revenue department was also requested not to register sale and purchase deeds of any illegal housing scheme until developers get their schemes regularised under the law, he added.
