Modern knowledge has also been made part of education being imparted in "madaris" so that alumni could be able to face the challenges of present era and better job opportunities could also be made available to them. Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Haji Ehsan-ud-Din Qureshi said this while talking to a delegation of Ulema here on Tuesday.
In order to enable Deeni Madaris to join the national mainstream, the government is evolving a comprehensive strategy in consultation with Ulema, he said. He further said that Daanish Schools are being established in order to provide modern education to the students, specially masses of the remote areas. He said that education, textbooks, uniform and boarding facilities would be made available to the students free of cost in Daanish schools. He said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister, special Endowment Fund had been established for the deserving intelligent students. Due to these reforms, terrorism and militancy could be wiped out from the society as the people of remote areas could get education in these standardised educational institutions, he said.
The minister further said that national resources were looted ruthlessly in the name of developmental projects during dictatorial rule, while merit was trampled, nepotism and corruption were promoted and no developmental project was completed timely.
