Two groups of Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (Poepa) have decided to chalk out a roadmap to work jointly to facilitate promoters and announced setting up of a 10-member committee to this effect. The committee has been tasked to work out different proposals to resolve the issues of promoters and build better co-ordination with the ministry concerned and other government departments.
Poepa spokesman Fida Hussain said two groups of Poepa - United and Lion - had decided to go side by side in a recent meeting held at a local hotel. The two sides reviewed the economic situation of the country and pledged to contribute to enhancing remittances so that the cash-starved country could make progress. Muhammad Sadiq Khan and Chaudhry Behadir represented the United Group while Akram Qureshi and Chaudhry Afzal represented the Lion Group.
Muhammad Sadiq Khan said his group assures all possible support for the welfare of promoters. He said Pakistan needs foreign exchange and promoters were facilitating the manpower that was contributing to remittances to support the economy of the country.
"Unemployed youth can be sent abroad by giving training at local level in different sectors," Sadiq Khan added.
