Targeted killings continue: seven including three MQM activists, woman killed

At least seven persons including three activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and a woman were shot dead in separate incidents of targeted killings at various parts of the metropolis here on Wednesday. According to details, unknown armed assailants, who reached on motorbikes, sprayed indiscriminate bullets on MQM's activists, leaving four workers in a pool of blood.
Resultantly, four workers namely Habib 35 son of Rafiq, Waqas 22 son of Tariq, Zaheer 38 son of Muhamamd Haneef and Irfan 40, who were standing near Mahajir Chowk at Orangi Town, sustained severe bullets wounds. They were moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared Habib, Zaheer and Waqas dead. Police said that three workers of MQM were fallen victim by unidentified shooters, who managed to flee after committing the crime.
They said the victims, who were the activists of MQM chapter 125 and shot dead at Orangi Town no 10 near Mahajir Chowk, were the resident of the same area. Following the killings of MQM workers, tension engulfed many parts of the Orangi Town where unknown miscreants resorted to aerial firing and forced the shopkeepers to pull down their shutters.
In another incident, unidentified gunmen targeted a 25-year-old woman at Pehlwan Goth and managed to flee from the scene. The victim, who was the resident of Pehlwan Goth and was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities, was later identified as Sana 25. The motive behind her murder was yet to be ascertained while the police were of the view that she might be killed on personal enmity.
A 25-year-old youth was fallen victim by unknown killers in the Orangi Town police remits. The victim, who received multiple shot and dead on the spot, was identified as Wahid. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to his heirs.
The targeted killing spree claimed two more lives and one injured in New Karachi police precincts. The incident took place in the jurisdiction of New Karachi police where unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on some three persons. Resultantly, two of them were dead on the spot while one, who was identified as Amir sustained multiple bullets wounds and was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
Police said the identification of deceased was yet to be ascertained. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later sent to Edhi Morgue for identification. Yet another 45-year-old man was gunned down at Lyari in the limits of Baghdadi police station. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained while his body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification.
