US corn futures rose nearly 2 percent on Wednesday, recouping much of Tuesday's losses, on concerns that wet weather in the US Midwest could further slow plantings through the week. The crop needs to get off to a good start this season to help offset depleting stocks in the United States, the world's top corn exporter, amid demand to produce feed and ethanol.
At 9:48 am CDT (1438 GMT), CBOT corn for May delivery was up 14 cents per bushel at $7.66-1/2, May soyabeans were up 18-1/4 cents at $13.48, and CBOT May wheat was up 6 at $7.65-1/2.
