Business community concerned over rise in crimes

The business community while expressing deep concern over fast increasing incidents of dacoities, has demanded of the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Inspector General of Police to take immediate measures to improve law and order situation in the province.
The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) Chairman Sohail Lashari, President Anjuman-e-Tajran Urdu Bazar Khalid Pervez, Chairman Lahore Township Industrial Association Haroon Shafiq Chaudhry and Anjum Butt of Steel Sheet Market, in their joint statement on Thursday said that at a time when the government is striving to bring in maximum foreign investment, the deteriorating law and order situation is putting a reverse gear to the efforts.
They said that dacoity in Steel Sheet Market Landa Bazar, wherein dacoits decamped with hundred thousands rupees and killing of a security guard, had jolted the confidence of business community and the area businessmen were unable to do their businesses with peace of mind. They said that police was unable to arrest the culprits. They said that the business community plays an important role in running the affairs of the country and the government should take special step to avert any such heinous crime specially against business community. They said that such incidents would not only give bad name to the country but also discourage foreign and local investment in the country.
