Special Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Zakia Shahnawaz has said that government has fixed two percent job quota in the public sector departments for special persons but unfortunately it is not being implemented properly. She was addressing a ceremony at Special Education and Training Centre (SETC) at Johar Town on Thursday.
The event was organised in connection with 30 years of services of the institution. Dr Khalida Tareen Project Director SETC and Professor Emeritus KEMU, TM Sheikh, Professor IAK Tareen, Principal Zarina Farrukh, Dr Aysha Tareen and others were also present on the occasion.
Zakia Shahnawaz said that she would request government to grant more land without any cost for the extension project of the institution. She praised the disabled persons' performance and said they are serving the nation in a real manner. She said that SETC is enhancing the abilities of disabled persons and made them a responsible citizen.
Dr Khalida Tareen said that SETC has been serving since last 30 years for providing the education, training and vocational facilities among the disabled children. She said some 180 disabled children and 475 normal children of poor families are also studying there.
Children presented tableau on Iqbal's poetry, national anthem, national songs and recreational programmes, while an exhibition of handicrafts was also organised on the occasion wherein special children displayed their products.
