Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) has recovered an amount of rupees 26 million from the electricity defaulters and removed 1,555 direct connections during an operation for recovery and power theft in six division of the Peshawar Circle. 'Operation Cleanup' is underway in Peshawar city, Peshawar rural, Rural Cantt, Peshawar Cantonment, Charsadda, Shabqadar Division of Peshawar circle under the supervision of concerned SDOs.
During the operation, 32 persons were arrested for illegal use of electricity and FIR against 140 other persons was registered. The company also imposed a fine of 100,000 rupees for illegal use of electricity. Chief Executive Pesco, Mohammad Wali has directed all field officers and staff to fully utilise their energies for the removal of 'kundas' and recovery of arrears, so that the electricity distribution system becomes smooth and public may get rid of power interruptions, besides increasing the company's revenue.
