The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has temporarily allowed transportation of stuck up ISAF/Nato cargo under transit to Afghanistan in the vehicles of their own transport contractors hired by National Logistic Cell (NLC). Sources told Business Recorder here on Monday that the FBR has recently issued instructions to the Collectors.
Model Customs Collectorates (MCCs) of Appraisement, Port Qasim Karachi, MCC Peshawar and MCC Quetta for clearance of stuck up ISAF/Nato cargo at ports destined for Afghanistan. According to the instructions, FBR has allowed transportation of stuck up ISAF/Nato cargo in transit to Afghanistan in the vehicles of their own transport contractors hired by NLC.
The above facility is extended on one-time basis for 20 days only, as this would give them sufficient time to get their carriers registered with Customs Department as "bonded" and would be subject to the following: The transport contractors of ISAF/Nato forces shall be declared by authorised representative of ISAF/Nato to the Customs department along with the vehicles required to be used for such transportation; the authorised representative of ISAF/Nato forces shall take full responsibility for safety of goods and compliance of all customs formalities and procedures in this regard.
