19 Apr, 2011

A recent spell of rains has eased down pressure on Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) officials but still there is a shortfall of 2,500MW, which may trigger as mercury rises ahead. For the time being, pressure has remained under control as consumers in some areas even avoid fans due to pleasant weather, said Pepco sources.
Power generation remained 11,181MW against a demand of 13,681MW, leaving the system with a deficit of 2,500MW. Power generation through hydel, thermal, IPPs and RPPs sources remained 3,080MW, 1,521MW, 6,433MW and 147MW, respectively. Supply to KESC remained 650MW during last 24 hours.
