Conference arranged by M/S Dellsons Associates on ‘PayPak – The Way Forward’ Held in SBP

Dellsons is pleased to announce its association with 1Link in organizing the seminar on “PayPak – The Way Forward” at State Bank of Pakistan on the 7th of December, 2017. The day-long Conference, having 05-Sessions, held under chairmanship of Mr. Jameel Ahmad, Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan was attended by over 250-participants, coming from 35-Banks, including CEO’s, Presidents, IT Heads, Compliance Heads and other Senior Management. The conference featured an impressive line-up of speakers from 1LINK and its partner Gemalto N.V.

The Chief Guest high-lighted the purpose of this important event and addressed that 1-LINK has been serving as the nation's core program for delivering SBP’s goals on digitization in Pakistan, besides pointing out that prevailing use of cash, hampers the development of financial sector to its realizable potential and emphasized to revisit merchant discount rate, expand entry options, and guaranteeing the security of payments instruments to protect customer’s cash, besides devising systems for expanding the uptake of Pay Pak cards.

Closing keynote was presented by Syed Irfan Ali -Executive Director, SBP, who spoke on the importance and acceptance of PayPak. He highlighted the need of implementing domestic payment scheme in Pakistan and identified further areas for improvement. At the same time, he advised all banks to comply with SBP’s guidelines of EMV compliance for payment card security within stipulated timelines as no exemption or relaxation would be allowed to any bank. Particularly, he focused on providing consumers with efficient and affordable payment solutions.

The Chairman and CEO of 1Link said to the participants that there was no better option than 1Link’s initiatives of achieving SBP’s two main strategic goals of promoting financial inclusion to the unbanked areas and building a robust modern payment system. He pin-pointed the challenges being faced by the banks today with limited ability to tailor payment schemes to serve consumers and suggested to become autonomous in developing financial services offering and adapting to the changing needs of Pakistani consumers.

The Conference concluded with a note of thanks to the Chief Guest, the Speakers as well as the Participants for their valuable participation. Dellsons Associates are indeed indebted to 1Link and SBP for making this a historic event wherein the audience comprising of bankers, expressed their commitment to the cause of PayPak fully recognizing the importance of such a card for Pakistan.
