Discos suffer Rs 225.47 billion losses in three years, National Assembly told

Federal Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar on Friday told the National Assembly that power distribution companies (discos) suffered losses of Rs 225.47 billion due to load shedding during last three years. In written reply to a question, the Minister said that Multan Electric Supply Company (Mepco) remained on top of the list with losses of Rs 79.973 billion during the said period.
While giving break-up, he said that Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) suffered loss of Rs 43.467 billion, Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) sustained Rs 32.795 billion loss, Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) 29.21 billion, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) Rs 12.14 billion, Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) Rs 14.85 million, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) Rs 3.210 billion, Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (Gepco) Rs 21.792 billion and Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) Rs 2.866 billion.
