Dubai's Al Khaleej Sugar restarts production

24 Apr, 2011

Dubai's Al Khaleej Sugar refinery, one of the largest sugar refineries in the world, said on Saturday it had restarted operations. "Al Khaleej Sugar refinery has resumed production from today and is expected to produce 6,000 metric tonnes per day," Cyrus Raja, general manager of Al Khaleej, told Reuters.
Al Khaleej shut operations on April 8 due to slow demand. Al Khaleej had shut down on February 1 this year due to the low premium commanded by white sugar over raw sugar but reopened on February 28.
