Sindh Minister for Human Rights, Nadia Gabol has decided to convene a meeting on beggars especially, child-beggary at traffic signals, on April 26, at her office here. The Minister has called upon concerned authorities, departments and NGOs to discuss the issue of beggary in detail, said a statement issued here on Sunday.
In this regard, a letter has also been issued to Secretary Law and Human Rights Department, Secretary Home Department, Secretary Social Welfare Department, the CCPO Karachi, DlG Traffic Karachi and Chief Field Officer Unicef.
Co-ordinator and Regional Manager SPARC are also expected to attend the meeting along with all relevant details and recommendations. Nadia said that Human Rights aspect should not be neglected before adopting, proposing and initiating any action.
She also called for establishing rehabilitation centres in Public-Private Partnership to rehabilitate street children and child-beggary, strictly in accordance with moral and social obligations and International Human Rights Charter.
