Couple involved in car lifting arrested

Islamabad police have arrested a couple who allegedly used to steal cars after hiring them for long journey besides nabbing six other persons in alleged possession of drugs and illegal weapons, a police spokesman said here on Sunday.
According to details, Ameer Zaman and his wife Sheeba booked a Corolla Car (MN-630) from Multan to Rawalpindi along with its driver Muhammad Shan. On their arrival to Rawalpindi, they stayed in a hotel and keys of the car were hidden by Muhammad Shan in his pillow. When he got up, he found keys as well as couple missing from the hotel.
He immediately informed police and wireless message was circulated at all pickets as well as to cops performing duties at inner and outer cordon of the city. Inspector Abdul Majeed from Anti-Car Lifting Cell intercepted this car at 'Jhugi Syedan' in Tarnol police station and arrested the couple when they were trying to speed away in adjoining district to sell it.
The accused Ameer Zaman confessed during the initial investigation that he had been involved in car lifting incidents in Karachi and later selling them in Swabi. Meanwhile, CIA police recovered 520-gram hashish from a drug pusher Nasir Khan, while Shehzad town police recovered a 30 bore pistol from accused Shehzad. Nilore police nabbed motorcycle thief and recovered motorbike, six mobile phones, DVDs from him.
