Democracy takes roots: 'all political forces working for masses' betterment'

Acting Speaker, National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi has said that democracy in Pakistan has taken roots and all the political forces in the Parliament are collectively working for the betterment of masses. He said this while talking to a US-Congressional delegation, which called on him in the Parliament House on Tuesday.
Talking to delegation, the Acting Speaker said that frequent derailment of democracy in the country has not allowed the democracy to flourish. He said that the present parliament comprises of progressive forces and were collectively engaged for strengthening of democracy and betterment of the masses.
He said that during the last three years of incumbent parliament, remarkable legislation has been passed mainly concerning women, children, social sector and law and order. Praising the contribution of young and women MPs, the Acting Speaker said that the legislation passed by the National Assembly was their contribution. The Head of delegation thanked the Acting Speaker for providing an opportunity to build understanding between both the legislatures. He agreed for enhancing such interactions.
