THE RUPEE: dollar lower

The rupee managed to recover modestly against dollar on the interbank market on smooth supply of the US currency, money expert said. The rupee recovered 13 paisa in relation to dollar for buying and selling at 84.50 and 84.55, they said.
Foreign exchange authorities of some countries such as South Korea were suspected of buying dollars, but their intervention was not to reverse their currencies' strength but to slow it, dealers said.
Indian rupee was trading at Rs 44.51 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit was at 2.9775 in terns of the greenback and Chinese yuan was at 6.5149 against the US currency. Inter-bank buy/sell rates for taka against dollar on Wednesday: 72.85/72.95 (previous 72.84/72.92).Call Money Rates: 5.00-7.50 percent (previous 5.00-9.00 percent).

The dollar resumed trading at overnight level of Rs 84.40 and Rs 84.60 on buying and selling counters, respectively. In the wake of fresh demand of the greenback, the local currency depreciated its worth and closed at Rs 84.50 and Rs 84.70 on buying and selling sides, respectively.
Pound sterling opened at Rs 138.50 (buying) and Rs 139.20 (selling) against the previous rates. The fresh demand of the Pound also pushed up its rate and closed at Rs 139.15 (buying) and Rs 139.65 (selling).
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 84.80 (buying) and Rs 85.20 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 84.80 (buying) and Rs 85.20 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136.15 (buying) and Rs 137.15 (selling) against the previous rate. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 136.15 (buying) and Rs 137.15 (selling).
