Islamabad Police arrest 55 outlaws

Islamabad Police have arrested 20 proclaimed offenders, 13 car thieves and 22 drug pushers during the last week in special crackdown against anti-social elements and recovered stolen cars and cache of drugs from their possession, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan here on Wednesday.
During the same period, 22 persons were arrested for possessing illegal weapons, while 46 gamblers were arrested and stake money was also recovered from them, the SSP said while reviewing the report presented to him regarding the performance of each police station on arrest of proclaimed offenders and those involved in anti-social activities. The SSP warned few Station House Officers (SHOs) for their sluggish performance and directed them to improve it otherwise they would have to face disciplinary action.
He said that Inspector General of Police Islamabad Wajid Ali Khan Durrani has categorically asked to accelerate efforts against the anti-social elements to ensure their earliest arrest. SSP Islamabad also issued show cause notices to seven Station House Officers (SHOs)for not arresting any proclaimed offender despite the clear directions to them. The SHOs of Secretariat, Shalimar, Tarnol, Industrial Area, Sabzi Mandi, Sihala and Koral police stations have been issued show cause notices and warned strict disciplinary action in case they demonstrated sluggish attitude in this regard in future.
