All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has offered to cut its share of electricity for the power looms industry. According to the spinning industry sources, it was highlighted in a meeting held at the Pepco office with DG Pepco in the chair that the power looms industry in Faisalabad was in a great trouble due to long hours of load shedding with substantial drop in power generation.
It was further pointed out that total electricity demand of power looms is some 150MW, which is becoming impossible for the Faisalabad Electricity Supply Co (Fesco) to meet with due to the situation beyond its control. Sources said the Aptma representatives offered their share of electricity and pressed the DG Pepco to bring down load shedding duration for power looms industry in Faisalabad. It may be noted that the electricity demand of Aptma members is about 500MW, which has become very precious with three-day gas load shedding in the country.
