Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has approved in principle the establishment of an autonomous authority for clean drinking water, sewerage and sanitation in provincial capital, Peshawar. The chief minister has directed the concerned authorities for submission of joint proposals in consultation with all stakeholders for finalisation of all matters in this connection. He was chairing a high level meeting here at his office.
Participants of the meeting were senior provincial ministers Rahim Dad Khan, Bashir Ahmad Bilour, Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Provincial Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah, ACS Atta Ullah Khan. Administrative Secretaries Home, Finance, Law, Establishment, Administration, C&W, Public Health Engineering, Housing and Irrigation, and DG PDA were also present on the occasion.
Chairman of the committee Arbab Mohammad Arif briefed the meeting in detail regarding objectives, background and methodology of this autonomous body. It merits a mention here that committee in light of chief minister directives has been established for ensuring water facilities in Peshawar. The recommendations of the committee were reviewed in detail and creation of autonomous body in this connection was principally agreed.
Meanwhile chairing another meeting, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti stressed timely completion of ongoing schemes under provincial developmental strategy in order to benefit the people. He said that new development budget was suspended for compensation of flood devastation, however, work on new schemes commenced with its revival and these schemes will be given preference in coming annual developmental program. Matters pertaining to current year ADP and progress on new development schemes were reviewed during the meeting. Participants of the meeting were Secretaries of various departments and concerned officers.
