President Anjuman-e-Tajiran Boulten Market Mohammad Rafiq Jadoon has assured all the affected traders of Boulten market that funds allocated for the reconstruction of shops damaged in the December 28 fire incident would be utilised judiciously. He further said that the construction work was in full progress, which would be completed soon.
Jadoon said that the shops would be built on their original location and the construction work was in progress as per specification provided by the affected shop owners. He dispelled the impression that there was any misappropriation of the allocated funds for reconstruction saying that accounts were being maintained properly and each penny being spent on the work would be recorded.
Jadoon was of the view that some quarters were deliberately creating doubts in the minds of the traders by spreading false information about the use of the funds, change is size of the shops etc. He advised the shop owners not to pay heed to such news. He said that Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) was very active and making all possible efforts for rehabilitation of the affected traders. He claimed that the KCCI had managed to arrange Rs 1.38 billion from the government and compensated 1,451 affected shopkeepers in a record time.
