LHC prayed to declare fresh strike call by YDA as illegal

A petition and a civil miscellaneous application has been filed before the Lahore High Court praying to impose a permanent ban on Young Doctors Association (YDA) and declare illegal the fresh call for strike given by the association. The writ petition has been filed by Muhammad and Ahmad, a public interest litigation company, through its Chairman Muhammad Azhar Siddique.
He also prayed to the court to direct Pakistan medical and dental council (PMDC) to take action against the doctors who observed or involved in 37 days prolonged strike and had again announced strike and to cancel their professional licenses.
The civil miscellaneous application has been by a journalist Manzoor Qadir, whose main writ petition is pending adjudication before LHC Chief Justice. Qadir through his counsel M Gull Zaman also prays to the court to declare fresh strike call by YDA as illegal under the essential service act. He pleads for a permanent ban on YDA. LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry will hear both petitions on Monday.
