Punjab Bar Council (PuBC) has asked the government to make public the facts about US operation in Abbottabad, warning that otherwise lawyers would launch countrywide protest against the government. The council also demanded judicial commission be constituted comprising serving and retired judges of the Supreme Court to probe into the operation.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Vice Chairman PuBC, Muhammad Lehrasib Khan Gondal, said that the military and political leadership failed to protect the country's borders rather they put national security in jeopardy. Chairman Executive Committee of the council, Zafar Mughal, was also present on the occasion along with other members.
Lehrasib held US responsible for spreading terrorism world-wide. He pointed out that even India was hurling threats on Pakistan in the wake of the operation to settle score. "To survive in the world, we would have to become a sovereign nation," he underlined. He said hundreds of innocent people were killed in drone attacks but their rulers were unmoved. Zafar Mughal urged the rulers to divulge facts about the action and take the nation into confidence.
