Munter meets Qaim

The Ambassador of USA, Cameron Munter, on Monday called on Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, at the CM. House here. An official statement said that he was accompanied by Consul General based at Karachi, William Martin, and others.
It said that the Chief Minister warmly welcomed the USA Ambassador and apprised him of the pace of development in Sindh keeping in view the rehabilitation and restructuring after heavy floods of last year with the result people suffered a lot and economy of the province was badly affected.
Qaim Ali Shah said that the floods were unprecedented and government has initiated rehabilitation and reconstruction work for which different countries had extended full support. He added that there are increasing opportunities in energy sector while in spite of rains and floods, there was bumper crop of wheat and Sindh government had allowed its export.
Chief Minister said that the Sindh government was giving full attention towards maintenance of law and order in the province, and concerted efforts were being made for a conducive atmosphere to attract foreign investment. Cameron Munter, said that Pakistan offers big opportunities for foreign investment, and investors are keen to avail them. He added that the relations between Pakistan and US will be further strengthened.
