S&T team to attend JCST meeting in Argentina

A five member Science & Technology delegation led by Mir Chengez Khan Jamali Federal Minister for Science and Technology proceeded for Buenos Aires (Argentina) on Wednesday for the 2nd meeting of the Pakistan-Argentina Joint Committee on Science and Technology (JCST) to be held under the framework of Pakistan Argentina Agreement on Scientific and Technological Co-operation (1983).
The delegation includes among others Chairman PCSIR and Director Generals of National Institute of Electronics and National Institute of Oceanography. The 1st JCST was hosted by the Ministry of Science & Technology in Islamabad in April, 2007. As a follow up, both sides exchanged S&T information, experts, and have also identified priority areas of co-operation, such as: Biotechnology, Electronics, Renewable Energy, Materials Science and Oceanography. The Pakistan delegation during the 2nd meeting of the JCST from May 16-17, 2011, will discuss the possibilities to formulate a Joint Programme of Co-operation, with specific focus on arranging joint workshops/seminars for further enhancing the collaboration.
Moreover, Scientific Organisations of the two sides will also take up proposals of co-operation and their effective implementation. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Co-operation in Industrial Science and Technology will also be signed between PCSIR and Argentine Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI). The S&T delegation is also scheduled to visit key R&D institutes in Buenos Aires for developing linkages between the Scientific Institutes of the two countries.-PR
