Two kidnappers killed, trader recovered in encounter

Anti Violence Crime Cell (AVCC) on Thursday claimed to have killed two kidnappers in an encounter and recovered a trader from Steel Town. According to AVCC sources, an industrialist Fawad Mirza was kidnapped on May 6, 2011, when he was on the way to work in his car from house located at Defence Phase VI. They said the AVCC team headed by SP Farooq Awan, on a tip-off, conducted a raid at Peepri Ali Muhammad Goth in Steel Town and recovered Mirza after brief encounter.
They also claimed to have killed two abductors in this operation. The identities of the kidnappers were yet to be ascertained, while the police were of the view that both appeared to be Siraiki speaking. They said the kidnappers, who used victim's cell phone to contact their families, demanded Rs 60 million as ransom and brought the victim to unknown place till the final settlement. Furthermore, they said that the kidnappers agreed on Rs 20 million for his release and they returned him back to Peepri Ali Muhammad Goth on Thursday to collect ransom money.
