Ministry of Industries plays pivotal role in development: minister

Senior Federal Minister for Industries and Defence Production, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that the Ministry of Industries will endeavour its utmost to reach out to general public with the aim of providing maximum relief to the masses. The senior minister has emphasised on making arrangements for updating all the units of the ministry; expanding the network of its services; creating more job opportunities; and reducing prices of essential commodities.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said this all on Thursday in Islamabad during a meeting with high officials of the ministry. He observed that the ministry plays a pivotal role in the development and progress of the country. In this regard, the minister vowed to go out for a comprehensive outreach policy by expanding the role and services of all the attached departments and organisations of the ministry. The focus of the ministry should be on direct and quick relief to people at their door step, the senior minister stressed.
It was only yesterday that the minister attended a briefing on the Ministry and Utility Stores Corporation (USC) - one of the attached departments of the Ministry. During the briefing, Additional Secretary, Agha Nadeem briefed the Minister on the organisation, charter and the functioning of the attached departments of the Ministry. Muhammad Arif Khan, M.D. Utility Stores Corporation, briefed the minister on the role and functions of the department. The minister asked the MD to ensure moderation in prices and food security in the country. In order to create more job opportunities, the minister instructed the MD to open within six months 3000 more Utility Stores that would benefit 15,000 people in securing their jobs.-PR
