PTCF application inaugurated

Federal Secretary for Information Technology and Telecom Saeed Ahmad Khan has inaugurated an application enabling general public, telecom operators and investors, to view availability of telecom services coverage all across Pakistan. The application named Pakistan Telecommunication Coverage Footprint (PTCF) has been developed by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and is available on its website.
The secretary inaugurated this application during his visit to PTA Headquarters here on Friday. Chairman PTA Mohammed Yaseen Member Technical Dr Khawar Siddique Khokhar and senior officers of the Authority were also present during the visit. Chairman PTA briefed the secretary about the latest developments taking place in the telecom industry and the secretary appreciated the role of PTA in the development of telecom sector.
This is fully interactive application allowing users to zoom in and dynamically plot the coverage of telecom services in graphical format. This application has been categorised into four major services broadband, cellular. Fixed Line Loop (FFL) and Wireless Local Loop (WILL), which are further bifurcated into technologies and number of PTA licensees. This user friendly application gives the flexibility to select any one of the telecom service like USM, DSI FVDO. Similarly user can view coverage of particular operator in particular city through the coverage map. By using this application general public can view the growth in mobile and fixed line services all along the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir.-PR
