President can take part in politics: Amin

14 May, 2011

Makhdoom Amin Fahim has said that under Article 50 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the President of the country could take part in politics as being part of the Parliament. The parliament consists of three components including National Assembly, Senate and the President. Makhdoom Amin Fahim stated this in a statement issued here on Friday.
Makhdoom Amin Fahim categorically refuted any notion that the constitution puts any bar on President to take part in politics. He has asked that how the office of the President could be separated from political activities when the electoral college of the office itself is politicians that are members of the National and provincial Assemblies and members of the Senate of Pakistan.
At the same time, the political parties of the country nominate their candidates for the presidential election. All these notions indicate that politics and the office of the President could not be detached from one another. Pakistan People's Party will absorb all such pressures as it enjoys the mandate of the people of the country, he stated further.-PR
